Members include partners and staff in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts and data processing consultants, recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. The majority of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.

| Membership Qualifications |
ASWA membership is available to individuals in all areas of accounting: public, private industry, nonprofit, government, and financial and educational institutions
- Regular - individuals with a CPA certificate or equivalent, a Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or a minimum of two years work experience in the field of accounting.
- Associate - Regularly enrolled students or individuals with less than two years work experience in accounting and who do not qualify for regular membership.
- Affiliate - Individuals with a substantial interest in the profession.
- Retired - Individuals with five consecutive years of ASWA membership, who have reached the age of 65.
